Kogan Android
Phone
The Kogan Android Phone Agora hit the headlines with a splash
in December of 2008. The Australian LCD and Plasma TV and Digital
Video Camera company established high hopes for the Kogan Agora
Android Phone and yet in early January, just two weeks before
shipping the first models pulled the plug on the product altogether.
As introduced, the Kogan Agora had a 2.5 inch touch-screen, QWERTY
keyboard, WiFi, 2-megapixel camera, 3G networking and was Bluetooth
enabled. It also had a MicroSD card slot for expansion and the
pro edition added GPS capability.
But, it seems that the 320 X 240 pixel QVGA screen was the downfall
of the indefinite delay of the Kogan Agora since Android Phone
Development was taking a much more robust route.
According to Ruslan Kogan, the owner of the company, he was worried
about the screen size and resolution, plus future compatibility
and interpretability with applications under development for the
Android operating system. The Android
Phone Developer in general was exceeding expectations at this
point, which may make the Kogan Agora obsolete in a very short
time.
The pre-orders for the Kogan Agora Android Phone were refunded
to their customers and as the end of 2009, no word yet has been
given as to if and when the Kogan Android Phone will once again
reemerge into the marketplace.
